CFBR Daily Brief : 6/13/2022
CFL WK 1 Report - CFL WK 1 is in the books, and after some review of our weekend strategy, here are the final observations. We were fairly accurate in our assessment of unders being a good play, unders were 2-2 on the weekend. However there were certain elements of matchups that were overlooked. An example relates to the ti-cats vs roughriders game. One our part, we should have accounted for the quarterback transition the ti-cats have been navigating with Jerimaih Masoli leaving the team. Finally, we were one away on the CFL WK 1 parlay! BC Lions just might have something with Nate Rourke.
Sell your stock in the Steelers - The PIttsburgh Steelers are a team that is rebuilding, they just cannot admit it. Losing a legend at QB,transition at GM, and drafting and acquiring a QB in free agency are not trends compatible with Super Bowls. The schedule will be ringer, although I do believe they will hit their current of 7.5, they play NFC South and the AFC East which provide several matchups that I believe will provide amazing opportunities to heavily fade the Steelers and be very profitable doing so.
Heisman Trophy futures market very attractive now - Looking at the latest numbers from the Heisman Trophy futures market, there are some very interesting angles of approach that could provide a nice endowment from which to deploy throughout the coming bowl season. In my estimation, the Heisman, very much like the NFL MVP, is a quarterback award. CJ Stroud of Ohio State at +200 is a good play and a good price, however the value sits with Caleb Williams of USC at +800. WIlliams is far and away the best QB in his conference, and has an arsenal of elite talent around him. The USC schedule also does not have the competitive hurdles that both the Alabama and Ohio State schedules have. If the Trojans are undefeated, don't be surprised if the heisman finds itself back in LA.
