CBR: Worry about the Weather this Weekend
I would like to begin this article by apologizing to all 5
of my faithful readers for not dropping a second article yesterday. Things got
crazy at work; this isn’t my full-time job just yet…yet being the keyword there. However,
looking at the football betting landscape this weekend, Hurricane Ian looms large, and the market has reacted.
Looking at a sample size of college football point totals,
we can see some pretty substantial movement. According to VSIN and DraftKings, the
most notable point total movement is an 8-point drop from 56.5 to 48.5 in the Virginia
vs Duke game. The forecast for Durham, the location of Saturday`s high academic
brawl, is showing a 100% chance of rain. While the weather itself is a factor in
the drop of the number, the indirect effects of the weather, i.e., shortened,
and adjusted practice time, altered travel schedule will have effect on how the
two teams perform on gameday. Now, although these two teams are not directly in
the path of the hurricane, the after storms blazing through the south could
trigger some of those indirect effects I just mentioned. Keep that in mind when
laying your action down this weekend. Happy `Capping!
