CFBR: NFL WK 1 PLAYS
Week 1 is finally here, yes that is right, the greatest American
holiday has arrived. It’s time to empty your savings, find any spare change or maybe
get into your kid’s college fund. Hey scared money doesn’t make money, you could
be affording Harvard by the end of today, and here`s how you’re going to do it.
Patriots +3.5
Yes, I know the patriots have struggled down in Miami, however
that was then, and this is now. The Patriots have practiced all week in Miami to
mitigate any weather based disadvantages. Furthermore, the familiarity between
the former Flores regime and the patriots certainly aided in the patriots struggles
in south beach. We also have years and years of data that Bill Belichick has dominated
first year head coaches.
Finally, I understand that Mike McDaniel, the new Dolphins
head coach was on the 49ers offensive staffs that produced high volume,
explosive offenses. However, let`s not get it twisted, the real offensive
genius and authority for the 49ers is Kyle Shannahan, not Mike McDaniel, who
looks more like a GA than a Head Coach. Also, there is not enough Tua
propaganda you can show me that will convince me he is elite. I will back the Patriots, +3.5.
Commanders -3
The money has been pouring in on Jacksonville, and rightfully
so, they have the better quarterback and head coach. However, something about the
pass rush of the commanders has me feeling confident that they can push around
the jaguars, who, by all accounts are still recovering from the Urban Meyer
fallout. Ron Rivera is just the right cheerleader head coach that will have his
guys ready to go, and while Wentz certainly isn’t Joe Montana, I trust him to
make enough plays to cover a 3-point spread. I`m all over the Commanders -3.
Raiders +3.5
Finally, the last play for the day is the Raiders +3.5. I
think the raiders hiring of Josh McDaniels as head coach was the best head
coaching hire of the offseason. McDaniels was a disaster at the Broncos as the head
guy, however many years and a few super bowls later, McDaniels has certainly
matured and will have adjusted his approach his second time around. Also, he is
among the best, if not the best, play caller in the league. Armed with Derek
Carr, a dark horse MVP candidate, and Devante Adams, the Raiders are very much
poised to come out with a dominant opening week win. I`ll invest my coin with the
silver and black to cover the +3.5 number.
